The best martial arts studio in the Toronto area. Masters Jason and Riezl are experts and extremely dedicated to teaching the disciplines, attending to young people and adults with equal mastery. Certainly a benchmark in the martial arts history of the region, and perhaps of all of Canada.
Highly recommend DAPO Martial Arts! As a mom, seeing my child happy, comfortable, and gaining confidence means everything. DAPO Martial Arts is also very affordable and provides a free uniform upon signing up. I enrolled my son in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at DAPO Martial Arts this summer just to keep him busy, as heโs not usually interested in going out or trying new activities. I was pleasantly surprised to see such a positive change in him after only few classes. When I asked if he wanted to switch programs, it was a definite No!
Excellent gym for kids and adults... great community and comraderie. ๐
Dapo Martial Arts in Mississauga
Dapo Martial Arts says it has taught since 2003 and has run its school in Mississauga since 2005. Its website notes the school was once called CMAC Dapo. Programs cover kids, teens and adults, from age 4 up.
Classes run in the evening, 6:15 pm to 10 pm, seven days a week. The school holds a 4.9 rating across 99 Google reviews.
Jiu-jitsu, tai chi and karate for ages 4 to adult
The school names its arts in plain terms. You can train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, in Tai Chi Chuan with Qi Gong, or in a Karate-do built around self-defence. The company describes a weekly class for women only.
A free trial class is offered. That lets you try a session before you commit to a program.
Reviewers most often mention patient instructors and the confidence their children gained. Several adults who started as beginners say classes stay small enough for instructors to correct form. They also say the training leans toward practical self-defence.
The head instructor states one rule for the school: rank is earned, never handed out. The school reports that more than 60 students have earned a black belt since teaching began in 2003.
In the business's own words (Google listing)
Kids, teens, and adults train at Dapo Martial Arts to get stronger, sharper, and steadier under pressure. Teaching since 2003 and in Mississauga since 2005, we run self-defence-based Karate-do, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Arnis/Kali, and Tai Chi Chuan/Qi Gong, ages 4 to adult. Shy kids find their confidence long before any rank, and parents tell us the change shows up at home and at school. Teens find a discipline that carries into their schoolwork. Adults get a workout that clears the head, plus a women's-only class runs weekly. We can't give you a belt. Only your own work can, and consistent training is how it happens. Over 60 have earned a black belt here. Weekday evenings and weekend mornings. Free trial class. The way is in training.
